Into the Azure

Cold as iron,
Break into dawn.
Pale blue of light
Pierces the cracks
And to the dark
That scorch hot reigns.
Traveler’s care
On lonely shore.

As long ancient
Rocks before man
Scale beyond where
Danger and death
Fits together.
Eyes that are set
To what may lurk.

Unknowable beasts
Within the stone,
Structured by birth
For survival.
Hungry to meet
Unwanted guests.
Nobody leaves
None shall remain.

Empty pale blood
Swept to the flow,
Carried by stance
On vowed vessel.
Course to the fade
To endless light;
Like a lighthouse,
That lure fool’s prey

Anacreontic verse
